“I began my serious search for Jesus in Aug. 1977 having already decided that if the resurrection was historically true, the only logical response was to be ‘all in’ for God.  By Oct. 1978, I was sufficiently convinced.”

David is an ordained Southern Baptist pastor who has 9 years of pastoral experience while serving with Campus Crusade for Christ in Latvia. He is the former Western European Coordinator for Agape Europe’s Ministry to Leaders, serving from 2006 to 2010; served as Agape Latvia’s National Director (1994-2006) and he led the team that pioneered Campus Crusade’s campus ministry in Moscow (1990-1991).

David’s passion is to help believers answer Jesus’ prayer for more workers for the harvest (Mt. 9:38). In Austin, he does this through offering various training opportunities and by attempting to connect believers with one another who share common space, believing that the best apologetic is the love believers have for one another (Jn. 13:35).

He is currently writing his first English book Living on Mission, and has a variety of training packages based on this theme.

David and Elaine have been married for 24 years and have an 19-year-old son Kristofer.

What will be your adventure then?” Although she grew up in a Christian home during communism in Hungary, she was not prepared for that question. This question led her on a path which ended with a personal encounter with Jesus.

After finishing her schools where she studied business and foreign trade in Budapest, she got married to Gabor Gresz and they both joined staff with Cru in 1992. While in college, I began a personal relationship with Jesus.  Upon graduation, I worked some time in the engineering field and led the college ministry at my church before the Lord led me to full time ministry with a heart to impact others for eternity.

My heart is burdened to see communities in Los Angeles reached with the love of Jesus through:  Bringing the gospel through believers and churches becoming involved in foster care and adoption ministries.  Collaborating with ministries who are fighting sex trafficking within Los Angeles.  Helping to plant churches within communities that are not being reached by the gospel as well as partnering with existing churches to reach their city.

After serving in the Campus Ministry of Cru for 17 years, my wife and I decided to reach beyond campus and into the communities around us in Los Angeles.

Steve and his wife Becky currently reside in Southern California. They got married in 1987 and have three children.

He has a master’s degree in Economics from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology with an emphasis in econometrics – which deals with quantifying the impact of policies, strategies, etc. This is combined with 36 years of ministry experience, and Steve is ordained by the Southern Baptists.
Since a relationship with Jesus Christ has transformed his life, Steve is passionate about the question, “Can an entire city/neighborhood be transformed?” The second question is, Can these changes be strong enough that they can be measured, thus seeing an actual transformation?”

For the last 15 years Steve has been involved in developing strategic partnerships of churches, business, and local government that focus on the transformation of different communities in Southern California. The focus is on spiritual growth, leadership development, and taking a strategic stand in the areas of poverty, health, and education.

Dave Brindley
CITY LEADERSHIP NETWORKS & CONVENERS, CRU PHILADELPIA
dave.brindley@cru.org

Dave fell in love with Philadelphia and her people when he moved there 8 years to launch Cru’s ministry to international students. These students are the best and brightest from their country, but many receive their self worth from their latest academic accomplishments. This reminded Dave often that is only through the gospel, of Jesus coming down to us, that can stop the pride of accomplishments, and despair over failures.

With over 24,000 international students in the area, collaboration is the only path to making an impact. He formed an umbrella organization with other international student ministries, called Global Connect: UCity.

As America’s only World Heritage City, Philly contains both great beauty and brokenness. Dave worked with the tech community to produce the first map-enableled, adopt-a-block site in the country to combat litter, NotinPhilly.org. This new initiative was covered by the local news and won Dave an award as a top young community leader.

As he launches Cru City, Dave also looks to expand the role of churches serving their local public schools.

Dave is married to Katie and they can be seen dragging Lilia (10) and Alex (7) on adventures.

Kevin Bentley
City Leadership Networks & Conveners, Cru Raleigh
kevin.bentley@cru.org

“After attending church my whole life and trying to live a good, moral life I understood for the first time at twenty years old that faith alone in Jesus is the way to God. The biggest turning point as a Christian came when I discovered walking in the power of the Holy Spirit instead of doing it all on my own.  That simple concept has changed not only my daily life but has given me the power to make an impact for Christ in the world.”

Kevin’s passion is to serve others by investing in them and see their lives changed for eternity.

Kevin has served with Cru for 28 years.  The first 18 years he was with the Marketplace Ministry, then 8 years as Co-Area Director for Cru High School along with his wife, Alisa.   He is currently in a new role with City working to develop emerging leaders who will advance the mission of Christ in Raleigh.

Kevin and Alisa have been married for 27 years, have three grown children along with a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and one granddaughter.

Alisa Bentley
City Leadership Networks & Conveners, Cru Raleigh
alisa.bentley@cru.org

Alisa is passionate about connecting others to Jesus and helping them discover their unique gifts and calling to make a difference in the city and the world.

A “tarheel” by birth, Alisa has served with Cru for over 30 years on the campus and in the city.  She loves growing as leader, dark chocolate, the mountains, her family and coffee and is mom to three wonderful children, two of whom are married and a precious granddaughter named Lily! One of her greatest joys is serving alongside her husband, Kevin, in ministry. They have been married for 29 years and live in Raleigh, NC.

Bonnie Davis
City Leadership Networks and Conveners
bonnie.davis@cru.org

Bonnie loves to come alongside leaders to help them become all that God has created them to be. She is a certified life coach. From working with college students and campus field staff to coaching her team as a National Director for Leadership Development in the Campus Ministry, she has had many opportunities to live out this passion over the last 30+ years. As someone who also enjoys connecting likeminded believers with one another and resourcing them to reach others for Christ, Bonnie is excited about collaborating with other catalysts to meet the needs of the city in Raleigh, NC. During her free time, she likes to connect with her friends over a good, strong cup of coffee, antiquing, walking and running outside, kayaking and opening her home to family and friends.

Bonnie is married to Neale who was on Cru staff for 28 years until 5 years ago when he started a counseling center, Bridgehaven Counseling Associates, that serves the Raleigh/Durham area. They enjoy ministering together in their community and spending time with their 3 adult children.

Matt Shenk
Convener
matt.shenk@cru.org

“Because God saw potential in me that I never knew existed, I get energized by the potential I see in people, in the Church, and in the cities across the world.”

Matt heart stirs when thinking about the potential of the Church to increasingly show Christ’s love in part by working to address systemic issues in cities such as poor education, poverty, foster care, and human trafficking. He and his wife Anna strive to live out what it means to love not only their neighbors next door, but like the good Samaritan, how to love their neighbors in all parts of the city.

Matt and Anna, along with their two children, recently moved to Richmond, VA after living in Brooklyn, NY for 14 years. Matt graduated from Virginia Tech, became a Christian a few years after college, and worked in the corporate world for a number of years before he and Anna joined the staff of Cru Inner City.  They moved into the inner city neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn where they lived and ministered for 12 years. For the past three years, Matt has been working with Cru and NY City Serve to help unite the church in New York City to address systemic issues facing the city.

Anna Shenk
Director
anna.shenk@cru.org

“Faith in Christ transformed my life. Therefore, I believe that Christ has the power to transform not only individual lives but entire neighborhoods, institutions and cities.”

Anna Shenk is passionate about living out the gospel in both word and deed and helping others to do the same.

In 2003, God led Anna and her husband, Matt, to leave their corporate jobs in New York City to join the Inner City ministry of Cru. For over a decade they were part of neighborhood ministry, church planting and the citywide gospel movement called NY City Serve.  She also served as Vice Chair of the local school board in Central Brooklyn for two terms.

In 2016, they moved to Richmond, Virginia to launch the ministry of Cru City Leadership Networks & Conveners and serve as collaborative leaders that bring churches, community leaders and others together to meet the cities deepest needs.

She and her husband are currently providing leadership to BlessRVA as it seeks to evolve into a city gospel movement that celebrates and accelerates church collaboration for the flourishing of the Metro Richmond area.

Anna and Matt have been married for 15 years and have two elementary-aged children. She is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.
